The Statewide Head Injury Program (SHIP), a program of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission - Brain Injury & Statewide Specialized Community Services, provides services that support individuals with brain injury and their families. Eligibility for SHIP is determined by residency in Massachusetts, regardless of age; a documentable, externally caused traumatic brain injury, which results in significant impairments. Anyone may contact SHIP and request an application. Staff can assist with completion of application upon request. SHIP provides the following services to anyone: information and referral; social and recreation programs; general technical assistance; advocacy and guidance; outreach to homeless people with brain injury; outreach to veterans with brain injury. The following services may be available to eligible applicants: service coordination; regional service centers for skills training; a range of residential support services, case management, 1:1 skills training and support, and substance abuse services. There may be a waiting list for some services.
