Transportation: Local Service
The Americans with Disabilities Act requires operators of a fixed-route transit system to provide a complementary service called paratransit. The service areas include the end points of the routes as well as three quarters of a mile on both sides of each route. In 62 cities and towns of Massachusetts, the paratransit service is known as The RIDE. For areas of the state not covered by The RIDE, use the EOT Regional Transit Authority Search Tool to find the contact information of the local transit authority.
Travel
There are many kinds of assistance with accessible travel. They range from companies that provide local transportation services or rentals, to organizations that plan and provide trips accessible to people of all disabilities, to agencies that provide, for free, information about all such related services.
