Project Bread provides information and referrals to food pantries, soup kitchens and services for the hungry.Call Project Bread to locate food pantry near your town and to inquire about holiday basket availability. This hotline has translators available in 140 languages.

Catholic Charities

Basic Needs Emergency Services provide assistance to people in need of food, fuel, rental, or utility assistance as well as holiday assistance. Available funding varies from city to city.

Salvation Army Family Services

The Salvation Army endeavors to spread hope year-round while also acknowledging religious and national holidays. Provides children and individuals with clothing, toys and gifts. In addition, seniors and families may receive financial assistance to help them meet basic needs, such as vouchers for utilities, rent and grocerty store / food pantry items. Boston - Christmas in the City Wishlists

Parent of child must go to location at 45 Franklin Street in Boston between Dec 3-13, during weekday, hours 8AM - 5PM, There will be additional signups from Dec. 16th through the 18th on a first come, first served basis.   At the time of sign-up, a time and date will be given for gift pick-up. To sign up families need to bring a picture ID for themselves, proof that they are the parent, like birth certificates, and Mass Health cards for both the children and parent(s).
If you have MassHealth, bring proof of coverage.

The dates for signing up are:  November 12 and 13 from 9-12, and December 2 and 3 from 9 - 12.

Haverhill - Salvation Army

Provides services that include food pantries, rent payment assistance, electric bill payment assistance, gas bill payment assistance, utility payment assistance, Christmas baskets, thanksgiving dinner and prescription. For Christmas baskets and to register for the Thanksgiving dinner apply in person on November 4, 5, 6, and 7 from 9:30 - 11:30 and from 1:00 - 3:00. Must bring photo ID for all adults, insurance card and birth certificate for each child, for adopted or foster children must bring court documents, proof of income within 30 days, and proof of residency. Go to door #6 in back of parking lot.

This organization provides gifts for family members. A limit of two years is set for a family to benefit from the program. Relies on contributions from the community and doesn't hold fundraisers. Applications accepted at Town Hall with a letter from a minister or school principal.

Holyoke - Salvation Army Toy for Joy

Provides holiday gifts/toys and holiday donations for families with children ages 0-16. For residents of Holyoke, Chicopee, Granby, and South Hadley.
Register December 9 - 13 and 16-20. Must apply in person and bring photo ID, proof of address, birth certificate of children or crib card (newborns only), and letter from Welfare of Social Security.

Newburyport - Community Service of Newburyport, Inc.

provides food pantry, multi-service center (up to 10 nonperishable canned food items per week, used clothing and practical items). Distributes gifts to needy children (up to age 14) at Christmas.  Will accept requests until November 21. Serves the towns of Newburyport, West Newburyport, and Newbury.

Springfield - Holiday Meals, Open Pantry

"Holiday Meals" program provides Christmas meals, Thanksgiving meals, and Easter meals. Home delivery is available to those who are homebound. You can request home delviery starting November 1, 2013. The deadline for requesting home delivery for Thanksgiving is November 22, for Christmas December 20, 2013.

There are no reservations required for the sit down meal. All are welcome to eat, donate their time, money or baking skills.

Taunton - Corline Cronan's Family, Inc.

The Corline Cronan's Family coordinates donations of food, turkeys and volunteers for a hot meal for the homeless, less forturnate, lonely citizens on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter holidays.Meal site is Coyle Cassidy High School.
Meals are also delivered to shut-ins. All attendees can take away a second meal, a bag of canned and non-perishable groceries, as well as gently used clothing. In addition, new items such as blankets, knit hats, gloves, and personal hygiene have been provided at various times. This year, donations of new tube socks are being sought.
